Looks like Google is doing an end-run around the electronic consolidation of medical records. Hospitals and pharmacies are trying to implement this in various jurisdictions and I can support extending this into a broader initiative, but very very carefully.
While I do believe the end they are trying to achieve is the correct one, I do not believe they are the folks to do it (at least without oversite). This type of information needs to be stored and managed by a carefully regulated body, not by any corporation that shows interest. Too much temptation for mere mortals.
